Kyoto

It all began with an idea… of a perfume to wear during my first-ever visit to Kyoto. I have imagined what scents will be floating in the beautiful gardens of the Kyoto temples and which scents, closely related to me, will I add to that composition.

I loved the experience and found that my composition was quite fitting for the environment.

During my stay, I have however discovered several unique, local essences, like hinoki, osmanthus, kuromoji, and others.

Upon my return, I completed my composition with these oils, recreating the sensation tasted during my visits in the gardens of Kyoto, the feeling of encountering an invisible beauty, a sort of timelessness, hidden spaces, long-lost freedom, ancient perfection, and an absolute attention to detail.

I have replaced most of the essences I first used with those found in Japan, to get as close as possible to the actual spirit of the gardens there.

I found a single-tree, artisan distilled sandalwood essence from a sandal tree that grew over a 100 years in a zen garden in Japan and it overwhelmed me with its instant grounding effect.

I have also sourced cedarwood essence from trees growing in the Kyoto region.

The most challenging was finding an osmanthus essence that would remind me as much as possible of the scent that I so appreciated when walking through the streets of Kyoto. It took me the longest to find exactly what I was looking for, which turned out to be an CO2 extract of osmanthus flowers, without the woody twigs and spicy leaves.

Now this perfume is here to transport you to the magical Kyoto gardens. With love from my favorite spaces in Japan, for you to enjoy.

Osmanthus flowers CO2 extract has a rich, sweet, fruity-floral, with hints of honeyed apricot, yet still a very fresh and clean aroma.

It instantly transports you to the shaded alleyways around the temples of Kyoto, where I first encountered it. It was love at first sight.

It adds a soft, velvety, sensual note to the otherwise woody, earthy, almost foresty composition, and you know that you were carried away to a distant, exotic, yet sophisticated space.
